My Reticence

If I saw you resting there, in a darkened room, by a window
As the sun’s rays melted through the drapes, onto your bare chest
I would gasp at the curves of your unrobed silhouette

I would want to say something, “I want you. I need you.”
As your hand would rest on your knee, your eyes would gaze
I would wonder what you were thinking - hoping it was of me

If I saw you looking in my direction, my heart would stop
Aroused, the urge to look away would drown me
I would stand there, static, amidst a burning passion

I would want to speak to the source of my body's revival
But words would not find their way from the depth of my breath
So I would stand there and wait, for you... to come to me

Nature's Embrace

As I run through the woods
Warm rain thrashes the canopy
The trees quench a thirst
Leaves glisten, renewed vitality

Heavy drops pound my chest
Mud spatters up my bare legs
Feet sinking, the ground ingests
Feeling hopeless, my heart begs

With each tenacious stride
I’m filled with deep emotion
Mother Earth I do confide
Tears and raindrops, interwoven

As I travel through the hills
Footsteps drowned by nature's music
Wondering when I’ll hit the end
At that moment, all is muted

I look up and he is there
Majestic beauty, beyond belief
We lock eyes, Socratic stare
Sudden warmth abates my grief

Utterly still, among dancing trees
His crown adorned are antlers
My tears run dry before he flees
This love, has all the answers

Always

Collaboration Artwork with Claude Panneton

I'm me
Always been me
From our first hello
To our love's first high
To our love's first low

From the time we first touched
To the miles that separated
You, the one whom I loved
We, ever so complicated

It's green
Always been green
Love on the other side
Budding divergeant shades
We trusted, to feel alive

And thus we reunited
Lives, much as miles away
A destiny was plighted
An ambiguous passageway

And you
You've always been you
From our first goodbye
To our love's first low
To our love's first high

And gloriously we've flown
Resting in hallowed meadows
Dear love, no other has known
My soul's internal crescendos

Love of a Songbird

Photograph by Chuck Slusarczuk  /  Edited by me

Lady songbird sings a beautiful song
for the bird who shares her nest.
Perched on a branch, he hears nothing.
He fluffs his feathers and primps his tail,
and nestles his head amidst his wings.

Dutiful songbird soars high in the sky,
her heart bleeding from the billows above.
Perched on his branch, he sees nothing...
Around the sun, she loop-the-loops,
carving figure-eights amongst the pines.

"What will it take for him to fly with me?
To hear my song echoing in the tangle?"
Undeclared, is her overflowing heart.
Her nest, weather-beaten in the distance.
An endless blustering wind blows at her back.

Still, the songbird continues to sing.
She remains grateful, loving and free,
as she draws upon the energy of the sun.
’Tis not for long, another crosses her wing.
Handsome, adrift, he dons incredulous eyes.

A wandering bird, simpatico in nature,
caught in a wind stream he knows not of.
As kindred souls, they kiss the clouds up high,
dancing a flutter in a blissful Shangri-la.
They sing in harmony, in the name of love.

Thereon, beyond the pines, the horizon calls.
A prickly nest awaits its routine tidying.
’Tis a stage for classic, un-beloved songs.
And with much chagrin, lady songbird flies along,
while the incredulous he, anticipates dawn.

Love & Smiles

Self-portrait

Smiling eyes and butterflies
Soft song, a tender caress

Traipsing the dewy meadow
In barefoot felicitousness

A laughter not forgotten
The nexus, incessant bond

Hinging on a fate unknown
A warm sun or thunderstorm

Happily riding the wind
My heart will never rescind

Weeping not as old leaves fall
By and by the spring will call

Hand to heart, I walk the lane
With a love for fire and rain

The Forest Bestoweth

Photograph by Diana Bircakovic  /  Edited by Me

Image maker,
I know not of your intrusion
But of your light from within
Yes, you belong
My boughs embrace your essence
Oh to be yours, to be as one
To be loved and never lonely
I beg you to touch,
to know, and to feel
this earth between your feet
Touch me as I've touched you
Through your eyes, your lens
Your photograph,
an everlasting memory,
begets my future, my soul
And I am grateful

The Pull

Before you go
Let me look at your face
Let me see your sweet smile
Let me wipe the tear from my cheek

Before you go
Let me take your hand
Let me pull your body close
Let me rest my head on your chest

Before you go
Let me wrap myself around you
Let me kiss you softly
Let us make love once more
Before you go

Eternal Love

Self-portrait

The body, the shell
A hand in a glove
I beg you, do tell
Which one you do love?

The body, the soul
I condemn this fight
Soon time takes a toll
My heart remains bright

Accepting with grace
The deepest embrace
Feverishly real
My hand on your face

Lips touch softly
Passion runs deep
Love reunited
You soulmate, I keep

Inclined to cross paths
Our lifetimes connected
Pleasures of past
The future projected

Caught in the now
Embrace tantamount
Forever a vow
Our lovers account

Gone Again

Anticipation
A floating sensation
You warmed my core
Like the strongest ray of sun
Patient, kind, thoughtful, caring
But in a flash my fellow bird
You were gone with the wind
There, I remained, in the dark
With your song echoing in my head
